repute in offering excellent
and distinctive mathematics
education, the exchanges
in this particular field
always have significance
that reach far and wide
around the world and
invariably prove to be
invaluable opportunities
for mathematicians and
mathematics educators
of both countries to
learn from each other
and to gain new glorious
achievements. |

| Although, as you know, there happened, some time ago in a few Chinese cities, Shanghai included, some unpleasant incidents, which upset many Japanese people, visitors from overseas, including Japan, are definitely safe in China. Chinese people show, as always, their friendship and hospitality to all guests. Of course, we hope that the Governments may deal with China-Japan relations better. But it is our stronger hope that all these affairs should not affect academic visits and exchanges. |

| As the host of the coming EARCOME 3, we firmly believe that there will absolutely be no safety problem here. Actually, for example, several international conferences were held on the campus of East China Normal University last month, all successfully, to which quite a few scholars from Japan attended and no problem in any sense of the word occurred. We are sincerely looking forward to welcoming you this August at EARCONE 3 and to learning your academic findings and your interesting ideas about mathematics education. |
