>Submission of the Proposal
Intending participants are invited to present individual papers either in parallel paper sessions or in poster exhibitions. Proposals should be sent by email as Microsoft Word attachment to earcome5-program@sme.or.jp BEFORE JANUARY 15, 2010, including the following:
* Title, authors' names, affiliations, postal address, fax, telephone numbers and email address
* "Aim and the main idea of the reported study, methodology and the expected conclusions (in 500 words)"
* Related essential references
* In case of paper presentation, please select one topic study group in the following six topic study groups which your paper will be concerned with.
(1)   Classroom Practice for excellence
(2)   Assessment for Excellence
(3)   ICT for Excellence
(4)   Curriculum Development for Excellence
(5)   Teacher Education and Development for Excellence
(6)   Mathematics and Lifelong Learning
The proposal should be submitted as a single file in Microsoft Word format saved as “.doc” or “.rtf” using Times New Roman 11-point font size and single-spacing. To avoid confusion or loss of proposals, please name your file as follows: EARCOME5_<your name>_country.doc. For example:
EARCOME5_S.Shimizu_JP.doc.
>Guideline for full paper submission
Full paper should be sent by email to earcome5-program@sme.or.jp BEFORE May 31, 2010.
   
1. Files and files’ name: The paper should be submitted as a single file in Microsoft Word format saved as “.doc” or “.rtf”. PDFs are not acceptable. To avoid confusion or loss, please name your file as follows: EARCOME5full_<your name>_country.doc. For example, EARCOME5full_S.Shimizu_JP.doc.
2. Paper format: Manuscripts should in A4 paper format with 30 mm margins on all sides, single-spaced using Arial font 11. Please do not number the pages.
3. Styles: References should conform to the style guidelines specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association [APA style], Fifth edition (2001) - including electronic citations. Tables and figures should also conform to APA styles and should be located in the text.
4. The first page: The first page of the article should include the title; authors' names, affiliations and email addresses; an abstract of up to 250 words; and (at most) five key words that relate to the foci of the paper.
5. Length: The length of the paper should not exceed 8 pages (inclusive of references and appendices). Papers with more than 8 pages will be returned to authors for reduction.
6. Permissions: If the paper intends to include a long quotation, or a diagram from others’ work, permission is required on its use from the person(s) or companies holding the copyright. The writers should acknowledge fully the sources of any significant ideas or passages in writing which are from other persons. The following copyright statement should be included at the end of the paper.

The authors grant a non-exclusive license to the organisers of the EARCOME5, Japan Society of Mathematical Education, to publish this document in the Conference Proceedings. >Guideline for submitting a summary of poster
A summary of poster should be sent by email to earcome5-program@sme.or.jp BEFORE June 20, 2010. Each presenter of Poster is required to submit a one-page abstract by the deadline. It will be printed in the Proceedings. (You should not submit your poster itself.) Please follow the guidelines below:

>Guideline for poster presentation
1. Size of poster: “A0” size…height: 1189mm, width: 841mm.
2. Construct the poster to include the title, the author(s), affiliation(s), and a description of the research, highlighting the major elements that are covered in the abstract.
3. Minimize detail and try to use simple, jargon-free statements.
4. Remember that pictures, tables, and figures are amenable to poster display.
5. If you can, use color in your visuals.
6. Make sure your lettering is neatly done and is large enough to be read from a distance, i.e., do not simply pin up a set of typed pages--reserve these for your handout.
7. Consider using a flow chart or some other method of providing the viewer with a guide to inspecting your display.
8. Don't overwhelm the viewer with excessive amounts of information; rather, construct a poster display that enhances conversation.
9. Be ready to pin up and take down your poster at specified times.
10. Be sure to bring thumbtacks with you.
